Although they look similar to normal "wound on nylon" strings, the wound strings in this set are made with a completely new synthetic material - mult-filament High-tech Zyex. This material has different physical properties, and unlike normal classical guitar bass strings, which sound brightest when firat installed, Pro Arte Composites require a 3-6 hour break-in period to reach their full potential. After this initial period, the Composites will have the same tonal characteristics of new "wound on nylon" strings, but will keep that brilliance for a significantly longer time. Pro Arte Composites typically last 2-3 times longer than conventional classical strings.
Composite sets include an additional Composite 3rd string, which provides tonal options and nicely balances nylon and wound strings. However a traditional nylon G string is also included for players who prefer it. The choice is yours.
